Naruto Shippuden, rhe sequel to the worldwide phenomenon, Naruto. It is very much anticipated by fans as they want to know the continuation lives of Naruto and his friends in the ninja world. Consists of over 500 episodes, it surely will give an unforgettable once in a lifetime adventure for the viewers. The story follows two and half years after Naruto left Konohagakure for intense training with Jiraiya. Now, Akatsuki, a mysterious organization consists of elite rogue ninjas are closing in on their grand plan which may threaten the safety of the shinobi world. At the same time, Sasuke is upgrading himself to make sure he have enough power to get revenge for Uchiha Clan by killing his own brother, Itachi. Come whatever may, Naruto will sacrifice his life to protect his friends and Konohagakure, in the continuation of a saga about a boy who wishes to become the Hokage.
Now, let's jump to the plot of the show. It's actually more or less same with Naruto but in bigger context. For example, in Naruto most of the conflicts are involving only Konohagakure but in Naruto Shippuden, the enemies will cause havocs that disrupts the whole shinobi world. It means more characters will appears, either allies or villains. It is a wise choice to involve a more complicated plot for Naruto Shippuden compared to Naruto because because it proves that Naruto has matured enough to solve the problems that occur throughout the show. But, as complicated as it be, it is still enjoyable for the audiences and the plot is still shonen-like and nowhere near Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Obviously in 500, there will be flaws and the biggest one is fillers. Oh, I totally hate the fillers. I even hate when there are fillers in an important arc. It's really frustrating and dropping down my mood. However, excluding the fillers, the plot is thrilling and always play with our emotion. So, I'm going to rate the plot of the show 8 out of 10.
Now this is the core of the franchise, the characters. All the beloved characters from Naruto are back and grew up to be a strong ninja. In addition with new fascinating characters, Naruto Shippuden has evolved into a bigger world. There are many interesting new characters that appears in Naruto Shippuden and sometimes steal the spotlight from main characters. They would be Killer B and Sai. Killer B is Hachibi's jinchuriki that loves to rap when talking. He manages to add new flavour in Naruto Shippuden with his hilarious personality, but don't underestimate him, as he is one of the strongest shinobi in Kumogakure. On the other hand, Sai is an ANBU but he has been given a new role, to replace Sasuke as the new member of Team 7. At first, he is like another ANBU members, which shown no emotions. That's because he never had friends and living his life just for the sake of ANBU. After he met Naruto, Sakura and the rest of shinobi in Konoha, he is slowly changing for better. He is one the characters that have best character development in the show. Other than that, other existing side characters like Rock Lee and Neji rarely get screen times, and that's the only letdown when it comes to characters. So, I will score 9 out of 10 for the characters in Naruto Shippuden.
Let's going through the main problem of Naruto Shippuden, the animation. The studio behind Naruto Shippuden is Studio Pierrot, the same studio that produces Tokyo Ghoul and Bleach. To produce an anime that consists of 500 episodes, it will require a huge amount of cost, so they need to balance between animation and budget. But, that still not a credible reason for them to mess up the animation. The animation just get better when nearing the end of the franchise. At the first half of Naruto Shippuden, the animation is honestly inconsistent. For example, most fans have a deep pain when watching Naruto versus Pain, that is terrible animation. However, the production succeed to improve their animation by a lot nearing the end of Naruto Shippuden. Comparing this show with One Piece, both of them are producing new episodes every week but One Piece is more consistent than Naruto. Aside from that, the animation is quite acceptable for a shonen anime. That's all, so I'm going to score the animation of the show 8 out of 10.
The final part, the sound and music in Naruto Shippuden. This is another aspect in Naruto where they are excel at. They've got bunch of good songs such as "Silhouette" by KANA-BOON and "Blue Bird" by ikimonogakari. When "Silhouette" comes out, Naruto run became viral in Tik Tok for a while, shows how much popular Naruto in the world. The best part about that song is that it shows the evolution of Naruto from an ambitious kid to a strong shinobi while running. There are also several good endings such as "Black Night Town" by Akihisa Kondou and "Absolutely" by Swimy. Black Night Town tells the story of Sasuke from his point of view, it highlights his loneliness in life while Absolutely as the last ending just serves as a culmination of Naruto's life. It highlights the important moments in Naruto life from a kid until he becomes Hokage. After consider all the nice music that appear in Naruto, I will score the music and sound 9 out of 10.
In a conclusion, this is one of the anime that no one will forget about. It is not because it has hundreds of episode, but because it is the anime that most of people growing up with. It is truly sad to see this anime to end, but we should be grateful that we've been given a chance to enjoy the show while it's still airing. The show may not be perfect, but that's inevitable, nothing is perfect. We just need to accept it. After all, I don't think our lives will be the same without Naruto. We will think that ninja is just a human that wear dark outfit and run quietly at night. To be able to see Naruto achieves what he want the most in life is just satisfying because after all the obstacles that he have to going through, he deserved a reward and rest. Overall, I will rate this great franchise 8.5 out of 10.
